Our Missionary

The time is drawing closer. Mark will be getting his mission call in just a few weeks. He met with the bishop last night and finalized everything. The bishop will now submit the paperwork to Salt Lake City and we will wait for a letter to arrive telling him where he will spend the next two years. I am very proud of Mark and his decision to serve a mission for our church. I will miss him more than I can express but realize that he will be on the Lord's errand. I know he will be blessed beyond measure as he makes this sacrifice. He looks so handsome in his white shirt and tie. I wonder where the Lord will send him. Does anyone want to venture a guess??? Where ever Mark goes, I have no doubt that he will make a difference in many peoples lives.

Jo-Anne,

I know you're so proud of him and you should be! You've got a handsome guy there! I know it will be hard, but this world needs people like him!

Joy & I have been reading all the missionary stories here lately. They are my very favorites. Missionaries are so unselfish.

I don't even have a clue where they might send him. I've read so many places that still need the Gospel, that it could be anywhere.

We've read alot here lately about the Phillipines for some reason.

Please do keep us posted and I'll add Mark to my prayer list.

First let me say...I didn't even recognize Mark...Where's the funny, silly faces I usually see? Ahh! All grown up now are we? Good for him!

I loved my mission! Being a missionary was the best time of my life. I loved being totally engrossed in the Lord's work Only on a daily basis...meeting new people, helping people come into the gospel and just sometimes just helping them.

Missionary Work is such a rewarding experience and Mark will be such an asset to the field. I was thinking about where he might be sent and a couple of impressions came to my mind. (1) South America (vague, I know...but it was just an impression. (2) Germany (3). Japan.

Don't ask why...but Japan feels very strong!

Keep us all posted! I'm so happy for Mark and for your family. The blessings that will come from his serving can never truly be counted.

Boise Idaho :-)
My sister lives there and there is a missionary in their ward from Provo. I was joking with him and asked him if he wanted to send anything home with me :-)
My kids just looked at these pictures and said 'Wo! when did he cut his hair!' It is nice to see that handsome face!!

Congratulations, Mark, on your decision to serve the Lord. I can't wait to hear more when your mission call arrives.

Jo-Anne, I remember crying shortly after the birth of my first son thinking he would leave in 19 years for a mission and thinking how hard it was going to be. I had only known my son for a few hours and it was hard to imagine it. Now, I have to prepare to send five...

What a wonderful thing Mark is doing. I can only imagine your pride! Our Jay worked in Aruba for 7 months and we didn't see him for the entire time and it was so hard - but then the renuion was so sweet! I will eagerly await the news of his destination!

hugs, Linda

James guesses Nashville mission or another Southern state. I'm hoping Finland (because that is where I want to go!)
Wherever it is - it will be the perfect place for him and he will serve the Lord greatly.

What an awesome choice in life. Not too many young people are willing to make the sacrifice let alone stand up for their beliefs. You've done well raising hime into a fine young man.

Thanks for visiting my blog and now I'm anxious to see where he's going to.

Wow Jo-Anne - We're in exactly the same boat as your family! My son's papers are JUST about ready to turn in and then the waiting and guessing begins.

Gail,
It's so funny that you should say that...we have been telling him that the reason we moved to AZ was so he could serve his Salt Lake City mission! I would be thrilled if that happens, but I think he is hoping for somewhere a little more "exotic". :)

Joanne,
He's going to have such a special mission. Tim wondered and dreamed where he would go but never said anything outloud. When he got his call to Germany, he cried.
It won't matter where he goes, the Lord will walk with him and he will bless the work and love the people. Take care and give him a hug and our best wishes. Pennee
