Mind your step....

The fam and I have been in Utah since last Wednesday. We left Tuesday night, drove to Flagstaff, stayed the night and drove the rest of the way to Utah on Wednesday. We finally arrived home late Sunday night.

Can I just say it is the LOOOOONGEST drive?! It is always so nice to finally arrive after 13 hours.

Anyway, we went there to celebrate Craig's parent’s 50th wedding anniversary with his family. Being married for 50 years certainly warrants a GI-normous party, right?! It was so much fun!

While there, we of course tried to fit in visits with many others and time really ran out too fast. I made sure to stop at a couple of stores that aren't in AZ. It was while I was unloading my purchases, I accidently stepped off of a ledge in Craig's parent’s driveway. I didn't fall, but I jarred myself pretty good. At first, I thought I injured an already sore ankle, but as the night went on, my shoulder became increasingly sore. By the time we left for home Sunday, I couldn't move my arm.

Great.

I hate to be slowed down in any form....unless of course, it is by my choosing.

I finally relented and went to the doctor this morning.

The diagnoses.....

The jarring caused an immediate calcium growth in my shoulder. It is about the size of a dime. And that little bugger is causing all the pain.

The treatment.....

A cortisone shot in the shoulder which will eventually break up the calcium deposit. And, I also have to do a regimen of exercises to regain mobility in my shoulder. And it hurts like a ##^%%&*@# !!!

I am hoping that typing fits into my little exercises because even that is hard!

I will not complain, though, because if I don't do it, I will loose all movement in my shoulder. The doctor told me it would freeze forever if I don't do them.

And how's a gal supposed to sew, craft, shop and blog if she can't use my shoulder?!
So........ mind your step, people. You never know when you might just injure yourself!  :)

Oh, I so feel for you!!!! That is what I have been going through with my shoulder. My Dr is nice though and at least gives me a local shot as well. It keeps the pain at bay for at least the first 7 hours, but when that sucker wears off. I know what you mean. I promise the pain will lessen after about the first three days or so. May I suggest alternating between heat & ice along with medicating as often as the bottle tells you to - (with Ibuprofen - its better for it than Tylenol - Trust me I know this one). That will help it get through. At least on the bright side you are on Spring break this week and don't have to deal with 12 (or whatever the number is now) little rug rats for the next week. Feel better. Let me know what I can do for you.

That sounds pretty serious Jo-Anne. I hope it improves quickly. That was a long trip to make with that much pain.
Congratulations to your in-laws for 50 years!

Oh wow Jo-Anne! What lousy luck! I hope that typing helps so you can get back into the really important things in life... you know, like quilting!

;)

Take care, Kimberly

OW! Bummer... I know someone who has a really large deposit on her shoulder, too, and she does the cortisone shots also... and I've heard it does hurt like nothing else. So sorry... but glad your trip went well!

Oh Jo-Anne I feel for you. I am breaking down and going to the chiropractor today for my back. After I was up all night with a complete back spasm and chest pain I decided it's time. My left shoulder has been bugging me too so I think I'll have him look at that too.

Take care and do exactly what he tells you.
