I finished up this wall hanging while it was the fall break from school. Earlier this year I went with my friend, Joanne, to a quilt shop that had some fabulous grab bags for sale. It was a large Ziploc bag stuffed FULL of fabric scraps, all sorted by color. They were only $5 a bag. So I got THREE! I got the three that were browns, blacks and golds. I thought the colors went well with the colors throughout my house but I didn't know what I was going to do with them...not that that EVER stops me from buying up some fun fabric! :)
This is a close up of what I made with some of the fabric......I used variegated thread to quilt it.
This is the finished product. Some of the scraps were strips already so I just cut them up into 3" squares. I sewed them randomly into blocks of 4, and then 4 of those, and so on. The border is just the leftovers of the 3" strips and the gold (which is much darker in real life) was also in one of the bags. Craig made the peg board for me just so I could hang this. I hung it just inside our front door so I can change out the quilts with the seasons. Another recent finish is a baby quilt I made my cousin. This is just a sneak peek because she hasn't received it yet....
