Blessings

You know those times in your life when you think...."What else can we pile on top of this already heavy load we are carrying"??? Well, that's what was going on this weekend. As I have mentioned before, we have had some pretty significant financial obligations lately. It's been so tight....there hasn't been one extra penny to spend. You can imagine how my heart sank when I realized that our washing machine was a goner! There was NO way we could afford to go buy a new washing machine. Makenzie suggested we look on Craig's List to see what was being offered. I found one...for $50. Thinking that even $50 would be stretching us beyond our limits, I decided to inquire about it anyway. Saturday afternoon, Makenzie, Justin and I went to look at this washing machine. The man selling it greeted us with, "I have good news and bad news". The good news was that it was still there but the bad news was that he didn't think it worked. Apparently, someone else had come by to look at it and they couldn't get it to work. But, he told us, we could have it for free. I was certainly not going to take a non-working washing machine home, but we decided to have a look at it anyway. The washer had come with the house that this guy had recently aquired at an auction. This man just wanted it out. Anyway, Justin kept fiddling around with it and it started to work! The guy suddenly changed his free offer to $20 but we took it home anyway. After an evening of fussing with it, we now have a functioning washing machine!!!! I am so grateful for small miracles. This weekend, Ragan had club volleyball try-outs. She was a little nervous about it but went with the attitude, "I'm going to show them what I've got!" She earned a position on the highest team for her age group! We are so proud of her. However, we did not realize that the first months dues were required at this try-out. We simply didn't have the money. Our sweet daughter Makenzie stepped up and offered to pay it. (of course we will be paying her back!) I am so thankful for hard working daughters and the blessings they can receive because of their hard work. This is silly, but to me, it was a small little blessing. I woke up Saturday morning and I felt COLD! I seriously have not been cold in two years! I know it sounds silly, but there have been times since moving to Arizona that I felt like I might spontaneously combust. I was able to put on a big snugly sweatshirt and hunker down at the sewing machine. It really rejuvenated my creative flow! YAY! I was able to get 3 quilt tops sewn this weekend. It felt great! Well, I am off to finish up the final preparations for our preschool Thanksgiving Feast today. I am so excited...it is one of my favorite days of the year. The kids dress up as pilgrims or Indians. We eat a menu of things that they would have eaten on that very first Thanksgiving. I will be sure to post some pictures of the sweet little kiddos! Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!
