I Love to see the Temple......

Saturday afternoon we had the opportunity to go to the Mesa LDS Temple with Mark. It was a day scheduled for our church group. We thought that it would be a good idea for Mark to go on that day. Since we don't have any family living close enough to go with us, we thought that our ward family would be a good second choice. We had our sweet friends, James and Cori Gubler and Joanne Hendrix there with us on Mark's special and important day. Thank you for sharing it with us! You truly hold a special place in our hearts! Of course the kids cameras came out as soon as we were on the road. It's about a 2 hour drive and I suppose they need to occupy themselves somehow! And the silliness begins! While we were in the temple, Makenzie and Ragan headed over to Bahama Bucks. Apparently they have THE BEST shaved ice. Makenzie had wedding cake flavor and Ragan had strawberry cheesecake. We didn't have time for Mark to get one....sorry buddy, maybe next time. :) After Bahama Bucks, they spent time in the visitors center. This is after we were done..... The temple grounds are always so beautiful. They are impeccably kept. I don't think it matters what faith you believe in when you see these temples. They are just simply beautiful.
It was a wonderful and memorable day.

What a wonderful day! It is always exciting to see new missionaries. They often times get to come to temple square and see the beatiful buildings there. Working with these people is an absolutely wonderful experience. Congratulations on your wonderful day!

Hey JoAnne! This is Melissa, your niece. That is so exciting about Mark! He will be such a good missionary! Branden and I are probably going to be getting sealed in February, right before Branden leaves to go to Afghanistan for a year. We are looking forward to having those blessings! Our bishop up here used to live in Cashe Valley, and he coaches high school football up here, so I asked him if he knew Craig and he does, they used to coach at Sky View together a while back! You'll have to ask Craig if he remembers him, you might know him too, his name is Roger Spackman. Anyways, just thought I'd tell ya that! Tell the family HI!~~~Melissa

What great pics of your sweet family. What a beautiful building the temple is!! I have to admit, I don't understand why it was a special day and not just another Sunday? Do you only to Temple on special occasions? Are the temple's different from your church? I am guessing I am not the only one that is unfamiliar with this and would love to learn and understand more when you have a chance!! Thanks so much!

Jo-Anne--I hope your day was wonderful. I am always so impressed with the beauty and peace of the temple. I would love to go to the Mesa Temple some day. It looks so different than the Utah temples. We went to a missionary fireside last night for young men who are seniors and any girls who might be interested. My hubby is in the bishopric, so he and I were invited to go. It was amazing. The stake presidency had put together a slide show of the missionaries in our stake who are serving all over the world right now. Their parents gave them current photos. I sat there and cried thinking of the sacrifice and spirit of these amazing young people. It was so uplifting to see so many doing so much GOOD!!! We are so blessed!! God speed!! Julie

Hi, that does look very impressive...I love how they entertained themselves-better than fighting!
I really liked your last post and, even from this far across the world I can see it is just the same here, trying to reuse and trying not to think too much about what is going on in the world because too much analysis could get really scary. i think you are spot on with your last paragraph, a lot of people have forgotten who is important-and what is important, and maybe this will awaken them,
...and the front loaders are not always all they are cracked up to me, not clean or quick enough for my liking, Tracey

Jo-Anne - Isn't it just the most wonderful feeling to have a child in the temple with you? Hope Mark gets to go back several time before he leaves for Africa.

What a beautiful day! I can only imagine what it will be like to spend the day at the temple with my kids. I have always loved the Mesa temple too. That is where my grandparents were married.
