He left me....

Craig is on his way to China. I miss him already. His tickets to attend the shot put event arrived by Fed Ex a couple of days ago. So what's a girl to do while her guy is so far away???? That's right....stop at every thrift store in town. (someone, save me from myself!) I found enough ric rac and bias tape to last me for awhile. You might be wondering what I plan on doing with all this. Well...the answer is...I don't quite know yet. But I will think of something! (Denial is always the first sign of a problem.) Now I am grabbing all the vintage pillow cases, too. (Hello. My name is Jo-Anne and I'm a thrift-a-holic.) I suppose $10 worth of old sheets will chase away my case of the blues. No pity party here!! If anybody needs me, I will be found sitting at my sewing machine. :)

Well I think you found the perfect way to to spend the first few hours of Craig's absence!

And I think anytime you start to miss him, another shopping trip is in order!

I hope he enjoys his trip and before you know it he is home safe and sound! Will we get to see him marching in the parade during opening ceremonies??! That would be so cool!!

Psssttt... Joanne it's ok to be a thriftaholic cuz you know what I am too. You found some great things. Lots of things you could do with ric rac... lampshades, dolly dresses, decorative edges to pillowcases, add them on crazy quilts... On the happier side I am glad you found something to do while you are without him. Just remember he'll be home soon.

Jo-Anne,

If they called your name to bring them home...that's where they should go! :) Have fun sewing! I want to see what you do with all those!

I know you'll miss your hubby! Hang in there and have fun at the thrift stores! :)

I sure hope your DH brings you something home from China! That would help you feel better!

I'd love to see what you make with all your thrift store items! I'm just a fabric-a-holic and a craft-a-holic, let's just call me an everything-a-holic!!!

How long will Craig be gone? I sure don't like it when it's more than a week!

Ooooh all the pretty stuff you can make with all that! GREAT find on the ric rac! I have never used any of that but I am thinking I need to make a trip to the craft store for it.

Oh yes! You're a real woman! Shopping is the best you can do when you feel left behind!
Hope he will bring you some goodies from China!

at least you are curing the blues behind the sewing machine - that is productive. I would be found behind a carton of Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk - that is just fattening!! Have fun and start a good book.

I'm sure the shopping is helping with you being left behind. What a haul!! I'm going to be so curious about the trip to the olympics, and how it all goes. I'm sure you all will be glued to the tv and coverage!

Hi Joanne. Welcome to Thrifters Anonymous. :-)

I can't wait to hear about Mark's mission call! How exciting is that????

I hope time flies while your hubby is away. Sewing (and thrifting) is a good way to fill up some of your time.

Jo-Anne - I haven't started buying sheets at the thrifts yet, cuz I'm more primitive than vintage, but I'll tell you what I HAVE started doing. I'm a rug hooker, and all the wool I use in my rugs comes from thrift store clothing. I've always saved the buttons when I tear the clothing apart (of course), but now I've begun saving the labels too! What's with THAT? It's a thrifty sickness I tell ya! LOL
