My pin keep has arrived!

I sincerely loves swaps!
I joined a pin keep swap that Wendy at Ravenwood Whimsies put together.

Patti sent me this wonderful bee skep pin keep! Isn't it awesome?!
Just look at the bee. Adorable!
She also included a little bag of buttons in the package.
I wonder how she knew buttons were one of my favorite things?!

OOooo! Aren't they pretty?
Thanks so much Patti! I love it! :)

Here is the pin keep that I sent to her.
I don't think I'm done making pin keeps! They are just so fun.

The Days are FLYING by!

I have some new signs for my Etsy shop!! I will have them all listed by tonight so go check them out if you are looking for a gift or something to decorate your home! These are just a few. I can also do custom orders if you don't see anything that you are wanting.....:):):)
Mark spoke in church last Sunday. It is typically referred to as a "Missionary Farewell". We took some pictures before church. Thankfully Mark mustered some maturity and did a great job on his talk.
Our house looks a bit like Christmas has exploded here. I usually am dragging out the Christmas bins while our Thanksgiving dinner guests are eating the last bits of pie. This year it has taken me a little longer. This was just the beginning--and trust me--it got a whole lot worse before it got better. I am not putting everything out this year. I guess I am not in the mood.....We'll see if I change my mind as the days go on.
I have THE BEST blogging friends! I received this card and ornament in the mail from my dear friend Amanda. She really didn't have to, but it was such a lovely surprise! It is just so cute. I LOVE IT!! THANK YOU AMANDA!!
I wanted to share a funny email I recently got. I hope you get a little giggle out of it!
Happy Saturday! I will be following these to the letter! :)
HOLIDAY EATING TIPS
1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact,if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving chocolate balls.
2. Drink as much eggnog as you can - And quickly. It's rare. You cannot find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it! Have one for me . Have two! It's later than you think. It's Christmas!
3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.
4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.
5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?
6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.
7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.
8. Same for pies. Apple, Pumpkin, Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?
9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards!
10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Re-read tips: Start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner.
Remember this motto to live by: "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO!! What a ride!"Have a great holiday season!!!

I've lost my Mojo.....

......and it's so sad, really. I have been in a crafting funk all week. I don't know why, but the creative juices have stopped flowing altogether. That's not a good thing since my plan is to have a home made Christmas this year..... I've tried all the usual pick-me-up's......I've flipped through magazines and looked through all my patterns and pictures, but to no avail. I need a magic pill. Does anyone have any Christmas spirit in a bottle they can give me???? And, BOO HOO, I still haven't recieved my ornament from my swap partner......I am thinking I won't be getting one either as she hasn't returned my emails. Okay. Pity party over. ***************************************************************************** On a much more pleasant note, I received some happy mail. Julie and I recently swapped wall hangings. This is what she sent to me. (Sorry--no pictures were taken of the wrapping because I picked up my mail on the way to pick up Ragan at school. There was NO way I could wait until I got home to unwrap it!!) On the outside of the package, this little guy was taped. How cute is he???? I can't wait to hang him on my tree! Imagine my happiness as I unfolded this beauty! It is so spectacular.....and perfect! I know right where I am going to hang it! This picture doesn't even do it justice!
Julie blanket stitched around EVERYTHING. What a patient woman she must be!
Thank you so much, Julie. And the next time I pass through Utah, I will be sure to give you a call! Thanks for the invitation.

Ornament Swap Update

Just a little reminder to all those participating in the Ornament Swap....There are only 20 more days until your ornament should be in the mail. If you still need some ideas, there are many websites you can check out. Here are just a few; http://www.christmascraftfreebies.com www.MarthaStewart.com www.northpolechristmas.com There has been a little speculation as to whether or not swappers should add little "extras" to their packages. Let me just say that it is not required but they are always appreciated. In addition, please be sure to give a proper "thank you" to your partner after receiving your package. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please email me. joannecarter4@yahoo.com

Ornament Swap Information....

I have been sending out swap partner assignments. If you have not received an email from me please contact me ASAP. I am missing a few bits and pieces of your info that needs to be included in my contact with your partner. I have also put the links to the swappers on my sidebar. Go check them out and get to know your partner a little better, but remember, this is a BLIND SWAP so be careful not to let on to your partner about who you are!! :):):) All ornaments should be mailed out by November 1st, 2008. That way we will all have our new ornaments before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season begins. And a reminder....the ornaments are to be handmade. Also, please send something that is the quality that you would like to receive. If you have any questions feel free to contact me! joannecarter4@yahoo.com Have fun! **EDIT: These are the people I still need info from. Please contact me at the email address above. THANKS!
