Often times I go grocery shopping thinking that I still have 4 growing kids at home.
Call it what you want, but I often refer to it as "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Shopping".
When this disorder decides to rear it's ugly head, for some unexplained reason I feel compelled to buy an item in large quantities.
Only then to take it home to my brood, who were always on a continuous feed.
Well, this time it was bananas.
I don't know if it was the inexpensive price of 49 cents a pound that gave me the flash backs or what,
but I scooped up WAY too much.
My reality of having only ONE banana eating child here
became clear the moment the little brown spots began to appear.
Well, not to waste the bananas, I decided to slice those babies up and put them in the food dehydrator.
If I am anything....it's resourceful....
ya, whatever.
After a whole day and a night, they looked like this.......
MMMmmmm! They are so delicious!
I have to say that these are SO much better than the dried bananas you can buy in the store!
I'm not kidding...If you were here, I would share.....
but since you're not....
I guess I will be eating them all.

Yum--and you really are resourceful!!
I don't think we finalized our swap plans....when and what?
Hope life is treating you well. Julie
I have a dehydrator like that - never thought to use it for banana's! Great idea!!
We love banana chips with our cereal. However, we buy them by the bag. And for us, 39 cents a pound is cheap and brown bananas mean banana bread!
You have any grapefruit or lemon trees? There's not much you can grow in AZ., is there?
I remember very well when my boys were teens. They could eat a week's worth of groceries in a day. You think it's rough now? Wait until they are all gone and you try to learn how to cook for just the 2 of you....That is really hard. *sigh*
Love ya! ★Linda★
Jo-Anne--Those look so good!! I LOVED dried bananas!!! Where did you get those trays?
Really?! We have a food dehydrator that we have NEVER used and always have leftover bananas...I'm going to have to try this! Thanks for sharing such a fun thing.
Jo-Anne, Why have I never thought of doing this? My problem with banana's is they have to be perfectly ripe for me to eat them - too green and I don't want them, 1 day past that perfect ripe and I don't want them! I always jokingly say I need to buy one banana a day so I always have just 1 perfectly ripe banana! ~Ann
