No Good.

Well, I have been planning a missionary update for awhile.
 Mark has been doing great.
He has been having a wonderful experience in Uganda and doing some pretty fantastic things.
Until yesterday.....
Yesterday we found out that he had been hospitalized because he had contracted Malaria.
Ya.....no good.
Apparently the malaria medication that the missionaries take to prevent them from getting it made Mark really sick. He told me he was going to stop taking that kind and start taking a different kind.
He never started taking it.
 Again....no good.
If I were in Uganda right now I would be giving him a really intense Mom Lecture.
Complete with raised voices and a whole lot of finger wagging.

It's hard to know the complete story because, it seems missionaries only touch the high points of what is going on with them.
This is what I got....."DON'T FREAK OUT, but I had Malaria."
Any other details I got were from what he told my daughter Makenzie.
Which, by the way, I'm quite sure are also just a few snippets of the story.

He says he is on the mend.
I hope so.
Mark.....don't MAKE me come and get you! ;)
Love ya, buddy. Get better soon.

Hi JoAnne!
You forgot the part about skinnin' him alive and then holding him down and stuffing the meds down his throat. If you need help, I'll come!

No good for sure. I hope he is completely better. How scarey. I'm sure that you have been very worried. I looked at his photos. What a great missionary he is. I can just tell by looking at him. Does he come home the end of this year? We have an Elder in our ward coming home from Africa on the 31st of this month. I can't remember what mission he was in. He is blonde and fair like your son.
Hope all is well...take care. Julie

Oh My! As a mother---- would be kicking butt, even if it is long distance. Don't they know how much we worry without the deception? I am so glad to hear he is doing ok---if we can believe that!

Oh, JoAnne! He, and your family, are in my heartfelt prayers. I know how I felt when our missionary son was recently in a car accident, and that was only in California. God bless your family!!!!!

Oh Jo-Anne, it is so hard to have them grow up and do things their own way, isn't it? If they would just listen to us :-) I'm smiling of course as I'm saying this, you have a wonderful son. Mine do the same thing, only tell me bits and pieces. I'll be praying that Mark has a quick recovery.
Blessings,
Marcia
