Ahhhh....

Can you hear that?? It's the collective sound of relief of all the non-Arizona natives that are finally enjoying some cooler weather. I tell ya, it feels so darn good to turn off the A/C and open the windows! The breeze feels heavenly after the long, HOT summer we just had. I do feel sorry for all of you experiencing the first snow fall and freezing temperatures of the year....forgive me if my happiness and relief sounds a bit like rubbing it in. It is about 60*F today. Wonderful. Ahhh! I would like to share a recent Goodwill find with you all on this fine day. I have really stayed out of the thrift stores lately for the plain and simple lack of funds, but about 2 weeks ago, I stopped in for a quick look around. I was right there and had a few bucks in my wallet. I was doing a great job of suppressing the recent conversation Craig and I had just had that was madly swirling around in my brain. It was about how at one point, in the very conceivable near future, we wouldn't have any kids at home and we might like to downsize. In other words, I would have to get rid of some of my "junk". (of all the nerve, right?!) Well, There are just some times that things are meant to be and this was one of them. You know....Those moments when the stars line up and all the determining factors in the decision making process seem to be working in your favor..... Take a look at this....as soon as I picked up this beauty, and looked at the price tag ($4.99!!!), I knew it was going to be mine! This basket was so chock full of yummy things!!!! I could see yarn and thread and more! Once I got home, I plopped right down on the living room floor and peeled away the tape.... This is what I found.... Darning thread. Do people still darn their socks? I know I don't.....not when Walmart is down the street anyway! ;) And look! -a spool of darning thread was only 10 cents! There was also some embroidery floss, and old wooden needle holder, some Velcro, a medicine bottle full of needles, pins and other misc. sewing stuff!
And, OHHHH, my favorite thing....
Just look at all this thread on wooden spools. Oh my, be still my prim loving heart. They are so old!! Just look at the colors......with all the little stray ends taped for neatness sake.
This was a fun find. A bag of little sewing kits from hotels all over the world....The person that all this stuff belonged to must have been a world traveler! TOO fun!
And some more thread....I am in thread heaven!!! I know you're asking...."What does a girl need with eleventeen gazillion spools of thread???" Well, that's a good question and here's your answer....I'm gonna sew stuff with it! hahaha!
Would you just take a look at all this yarn goodness......All in separate bags..... It's going to be so fun to do something fun with all this!
The basket is now holding seasonal books in the preschool room.
Oh happy day!!!!
(But I AM staying out of the thrift stores. For a little while anyway. At least that's my story. And I am sticking to it!)

You need to tell DH when the kids are gone and you downsize, you also have the added benefit of having ALL the closets to yourself so you can hold all your crafting and sewing goodies! What a find!!

I'll sneak you into a thrift store with me and nobody will know. lol...
What a fun find you have there. I don't sew but look at all the fabulous colors in that thread. It would be terrific just for display purposes, it is so pretty!

I am an AZ native, but I can still understand what you mean by turning off the airconditioning and opeing the windows. It was such a drastic change from one day to another. That looks like an amazing find from the thrift store. Have fun using that all up!!!!!
