I am trying to keep my chicks in a row....

Today in preschool we learned about how baby chicks are born and what they have to do to come into the world. We talked about how hard it is for the little chick to hatch out of its egg and that the mommy chicken doesn't help the chick at all. We discussed that the chick develops strength as it is slowly but surely pecks away at the shell until it can escape. We also talked about how important it is for the chick to develop that strength so it can survive outside of its egg. It just reminded me of all the times in our lives that we have had to face something that seems to be insurmountable. The times that we face an obstacle alone. The times when our only choice to deal with it so we can move on to the next step in our lives. It's my guess that we have all had many moments like this. Believe it or not, I am finally at a point where I am thankful for these times. I have learned so much from them. That's certainly not to say that I am looking forward to the next hard time, but I know the strength that I was able to develop will be useful to me the next time it does. So today I am thankful---for many, many things. :):):)

Great analogy - it is so true. All the trials do make us stronger!

Nice post Jo-Anne! I think you can tell where you are in the trial/good times cycle by how you feel when someone says they're grateful for their trials. I must be deep in trial at the moment because it seems unbelievable that you would be grateful for your trials! I know it's true though because I have felt the same way myself! Hope you're having a great week.

A good lesson -- but to me, the hardest part is being the mother hen and not getting to help. It hurts me to see my children struggle, even when I know it is good for them.
Thank you for sharing your day.

Beautiful ideas!
I can always say I am thankful for who I am...but usually not until long after the trial. I need to be better about during :-)

Josh reminds me that before we were married that I told him that I looked forward to the trials (that is why we have so many), I always have to remind him that I said that because it would provide an opportunity for us to grow together as a couple and as a family. Either way - we do continue to grow and learn. I too am thankful for those hard times because of what I learn through them.
