There's a new man at my house.....
It's true. I have a new man.
I came home and there he was.
Laying on the couch.
He wants to know where his Goobers Stink Bait hat is. Now he's asking for a flannel shirt with the sleeves cut off.
He calls himself Cletus.
You know, Craig IS gone a lot.....I am thinking I might keep Cletus around awhile. After all, he's kinda cute....even if he is missing a few teeth.....
Told ya! ;)
Now, in all seriousness, Craig has recently needed some extensive dental work. Seventeen years ago, while still in college, he had a weight lifting accident. He was bench pressing 355lbs. He was doing sets of 6 reps and on his last set, his elbow gave out and he dropped the weights on his mouth. His spotter, who incidentally was the strength coach at Utah State University, was not paying attention. To make matters worse, he couldn't lift the weights off Craig's mouth so he dumped it all to one side, further injuring him. His bottom teeth went through his lip, then layed down on the outside of his lip. When the strength coach dumped the weights, it cracked or broke several of his upper teeth as well. The oral surgeon put all of his teeth back in, and all took but one. After months of living with wired in teeth, he started the process of getting the 13 root canals and crowns. He went to the dentist almost everyday for a whole summer.
Flash forward 17 years. Craig is sitting in the airport in Oregon eating a sandwich. He took a bite and one of his "fake" teeth breaks, but is hanging there like a loose tooth. The next day the dentist tells him that all of his teeth have basically rotted under his crowns. He needs all new crowns across the bottom front of his mouth.
Anybody want to take a guess at how much that's gonna cost????
Nope-higher
Keep going.....
$6500.00
OUCH!
And since we have recently paid out $3000.00 for car repairs and about $500 for Mark's missionary necessities, we are, well.......I think Cletus put it best when he said we are "Broke as a Joke"! LOL!
Thank goodness for Cletus (aka Craig) and his wonderful sense of humor!

Such a great picture of Craig! It's been awhile since I've checked in on your life. How in the world do you do all the stuff you do?? I'm "do-ed" out just catching up with you. Hope all is well and that the unexpected events are smoothing themselves out. Here's to you!!
Oh my! I hope things improve... can't get much $worse$ can they?
Praying for your family, Kimberly
(and sewing on your runner like crazy!)
Hi Jo-Anne....wow, I was putting off the dentist because of the cost of 1 or 2 cavaties....but I won't complain....hope everything goes well. ps thanks for checking out my blog and leaving such a nice comment.
ouch is right!! thanks for stopping by and your kind words. Now I'm going back to read some more of your posts!!
Poor Craig, it sounds as if he has had way more than his fair share of dental problems - and more to come. I imagine it has helped him get over any fear of dentists though - or has it made it worse? I hope he sued the coach at college!
Oh no! That's it! I think everyone who took advantage of your etsy sale should pay up the full amount so you can pay the teeth bill! (Just joking, but we'll probably see more in the etsy shop, won't we?)
Oh, my! That must have been a terrible accident! I can't imagine. So sorry you are having such luck but I guess at least you can laugh at the situation. It will all work out...hang in there!
Have a great rest of your weekend.

That is so odd, Dan is going through something strangly similar, having to have the crowns, whatever replaced...luckily for us his brother in law is a dentist and is doing it for what our insurance will pick up. I can only imagine what the cost would be. Good luck to your hubby during this... I know Dan is running back and forth to see his BIL for fittings, pullings, and such.
Oh, he is cute JoAnn...poor thing, that had to really hurt and be so tramatic when it happend.
Wow, what a huge dentist bill but I'm so sure it will be worth it to just get Craig back.lol

Oh my word that is a lot of money. Sometimes you wonder if dentures would be cheaper. LOL. It is a wonder Craig didn't injure his back when those weights fell and then had them puched off to one side. WOW...
You know when it rains it pours doesn't it? But God always provides when you need it most.

Big OUCH!! I can't imagine having to go to the dentist as much as he has had to go....not my favorite place. At least he is joking....might as well...doesn't help to cry. Enjoying your blog.
Hi Joanne! I missed you too. I am so sorry about Craig's dental woes. It is no fun!! I had some big dental problems because of a botched root canal I had about 25 years ago. I have impeccable hygiene and yet that problem ruined my upper right jaw. In the last 3 years I have had 3 implants done with bone graphs first, to stabilize the bone in the jaw and to be able to have teeth in that area. Let's just say the cost was so high I didn't get the screened porch I wanted. Oh well, our teeth are important, aren't they? I hope Craig's mouth gets fixed right and he has no additional problems from this. hugs, Linda
I'm thinking of you and Craig and all the expense. I'm taking the three little boys to the dentist today and am a little fearful we just may hear some similiar news on the checkbook end...
Oh, that's horrible!! Your picture of your hubby is great, though. I guess we might as well laugh, as cry!! Hope all works out for you. Have a great day. Julie
Holy Cow! Ouch is an understatement!!! Guess we know what HE'S getting for Christmas LOL!
Bless his heart! That's alot of root canals! I can't imagine! Well it's great to have a sense of humor in a situation like this! I do love the picture of him! My dad has a character similiar to Cletus...his name is Junior! :)

So sorry to hear of the disaster. I found your post through Sue. Things will work out.
Owie, poor Cletus. I mean Craig!
See, lesson there for all of us, don't exercise, you could get hurt-sewing is much safer!
That seems like a huge amount of money...but that smile seems worth it! Tracey
