One (wo)man's junk is another (wo)mans treasure

I seriously hit the Goodwill MOTHER LODE of sewing patterns! Yesterday, Ragan and I stopped in at the local Goodwill. I always check the area where they keep sewing notions and things...hoping to find a package or two of ric rac or something. But it was Ragan who spotted a HUGE bag of vintage sewing patterns! She saw a pattern for a dress that she thought was cute....(ever since the movie "Hairspray" came out, she has been smitten with the 1950's and 60's fashions!) She says, "MOM! can we get these????" "How much are they?", I ask..... $5.99. There were 57 vintage patterns in that taped up bag. FIF.TEY.SEVEN!!! Can you believe it??? For six bucks!!!! And here's the kicker...most of them had never been used! We also found many other treasures that I will save for a future post.:)

Wow, you will be showing off the garments that get made won't you? I just finished your post about your son going on a mission trip, has he found out where yet? I think that is incredible. I'll definitely be popping in to see what your family is up to.

Looks like lots of fun--I can't follow a pattern very well, but how fun to look at all those vintage patterns. Make sure you show us what you decide to make. Julie

Thanks for the email! When you get to making the dress, you'll have to take part in Leslies - Whatcha Working on Wednesday. I did - when you have a minute stop over and take a peak!

What gorgeous patterns - love all the styles from that era - it will be great if any of your children have a 50's themed school dance! My daughter is a big Hairspray fan too.
